Little Nuggets: an Easy Dropoff Outfit, Kids Sun Hats, the Book My Son Won't Put Down, etc., etc.
Little goodies for mom & kids.
KIDS SUN HATS
Tis the season for one of the more frustrating bits of dressing children. Hat season. Oy. My kids as babies and toddlers REFUSED to wear a hat, and it was just this thing that was unnecessarily frustrating. Until… we got this hat, on the left here by Sunday Afternoons. The brim is HUGE, and the little flap thing goes down their neck, and it has an under-chin string, but something about this hat doesn’t bother them at all. They look insane wearing it, it is NOT CUTE but both of them, still - I put this hat on and it’s like they forget they’re wearing it. It’s also UPF 50 so you won’t have as many struggles with sunscreen application.
The leopard one is also UPF 50 - and it is so cute but I don’t own it and can’t attest to how easy it is to get your kids to comply. And then finally all the way on the right, UGH! The cutest. It’s reversible and the other side is insanely cute as well.
SPEAKING OF SUNSCREEN
I mean, this might be the most obvious thing in the world but this clear sunscreen stick is a total game changer. I try to put some sunscreen on my kids before school, especially on the back of my son’s neck, and they don’t fight me on this one! I like zwip zwip zwip it on their necks and faces and they stand stock still and don’t scream or squirm or anything. And because it’s clear I don’t have to mash it into their skin while pinning them against my legs. Sun Bum sunscreen, $15
MY KIDS’ FAVORITE PAJAMAS
I’m kind of on a PJ kick lately, and I would feel sad inside if I didn’t also give a shout out to Dodo Banana. My kids have a few pairs and they’re their favorites because they’re mega soft and have kind of weird prints - like this one, which is a bunch of sleeping bananas. Dodo Banana jammies, $62
MY SON IS OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK
My son, who is 6, loves Star Wars, despite having never seen any of the films. He got this book today at a May the Fourth thing in LA and he couldn’t put it down all day. It’s about how the monsters were designed and created with all of these great little flip outs of original sketches, etc. It’s SO good. Star Wars book, $23
THE CUTEST BOYS SWIM TRUNKS
That’s basically it - I love this print, they are SO CUTE. Farewell Swim, $45
AND A LITTLE SHIRT TO GO WITH THEM
Wouldn’t this be so cute with those shorts? But also with girly stuff? The perfect little striped shirt. Before I had kids I fantasized about dressing my kids exclusively in sailor stripes - tops and bottoms (when my son was born, I essentially did this except with tie dye) - and I haven’t let go of the dream. Primary, $20
TWO EXCELLENT DRESSES
Two totally perfect dresses. On the left, Chan Luu sent me this gauzy dream and every time I put it on it’s like my whole body sighs. AND it’s pretty. AND interesting - it ties up by the neck and at the waist. Meanwhile on the right - how excellent is this poplin dress from sustainable brand, Ozma? It looks like the kind of thing you’d put on and then wear every day until it fell apart. Heaven for summer.
AND FINALLY…
Ok, I hope this isn’t too much of a let down, and I’ve written about both of these before, but these completely perfect sweatpants and this miracle of a sweatshirt are great together - with sneakers, with birks, with whatever shoes, the fit of both are so great, and it’s like a Juicy Suit but the hot 70s guy version of one. I mean, groundbreaking it is not, but the beauty is in the simplicity. Thus, making it the perfect outfit for rushed drop off into coffee with a friend, etc etc. Richer Poorer sweatshirt, $76 ; Donni sweatpants, $144
That’s it!
Your friend,
Laurel
