Not to play into the harried stereotypes of motherhood, the boring cliches of ~tired Starbucks moms~ crying into their Stanley cups in the Target parking lot, but sometimes! You are! The mom! Crying into your cup in the Target parking lot! Sometimes! You are the dumpster raccoon, barely getting by on wet scraps and kind looks from strangers. Sometimes you might go five mornings without brushing your teeth before 1 PM, if at all, sometimes you might eat nothing but the crusts you cut off your kids sandwiches, sometimes you might need an edible before noon just to disassociate so fully your spirit exits your body and dives straight into a black hole on Instagram.

This is my very poetic way of saying - sometimes you feel AND LOOK like shit. AND! You have to get it together either for a meeting, or a friend hang, or just for your general self esteem and for pulling yourself out of a weird shame spiral. When I feel just a little bit hot (or at least not wad of used chewing gum), I find it easier to get the rest of my schtick together - that sentiment is, coincidentally, the cliche of the millennium, but listen. I’m a tired mom too.
