Very Bad Dogs & Very Bad Mothers

I’m going to start this with a pretty extreme example, but bear with me:

The other night, I took my kids out to dinner (just me, no husband) and as we walked up onto the patio to our table, a dog (yellow lab), who had been sleeping under the table nearest the stairs, jumped up and lunged for my daughter (who is 3) and was barking, snarling, and snapping at her face - she fell back down on the stairs. Luckily, the owners grabbed the dog’s leash in time, so physically, she was fine, but she was thoroughly traumatized and is now terrified of dogs.
